Vintage Harmonie Violin Bow – Nickel Mounted, Ebony Frog with Abalone Eyes – 59 g, 737 mm – French Mirecourt – Needs Rehair
Early 20th-century Harmonie -stamped violin bow, likely made in Mirecourt, France. The bow is in very good condition and features a strong reddish-brown stick that is round for most of its length, transitioning to octagonal near the frog.
The ebony frog, or heel, is nickel-mounted and is adorned with abalone “eyes” or inlays on both sides as well as the top-end of the frog.
The adjuster knob turns easily and moves the frog. The bow needs to be re-haired. The wood is in very good condition. There is a tiny ding to the edge of the frog (see pictures).
The wood is straight and well-preserved with no cracks or damage. A fine example of a French trade bow suitable for restoration or daily playing.
