The 88 Deluxe is a handmade electric guitar built around an original keyboard from a circa-1920s baby grand piano, permanently preserved inside a hand-cast transparent resin body.

Rather than simply borrowing the look of a piano, this instrument incorporates the actual keys, wood, and hardware from a century-old instrument—turning them into a fully playable electric guitar and a genuinely one-of-a-kind piece of functional art.

Each 88 Deluxe is individually built in New York in very small numbers. Serial A-00004 is an early example of the model.

About Nocturne Guitars

Nocturne Guitars is a small boutique shop based in New York’s Hudson Valley. We’re a father-and-son team who share a love of building guitars, playing music, and being part of the musician community.

Our instruments are built in small numbers with an emphasis on originality, craftsmanship, and creating guitars that are as interesting to look at as they are to play. The 88 Deluxe grew out of that idea: taking something with its own musical history and giving it a completely new life as an electric guitar.

Details

The guitar features a Tele-style configuration with Fender Tex-Mex pickups , quality hardware, and a maple neck with rosewood fingerboard. The clear cast-resin body allows the original piano keyboard and internal components to remain visible from multiple angles, creating a striking three-dimensional effect that changes with the light.

Despite its unusual construction, this was designed first and foremost to be a real musical instrument—not simply a display piece.

Cardboard boxes for larger items or recycled-paper padded envelopes for small part or flat items. We do not use plastic envelopes or plastic containers. Paper packing tape is used to seal boxes . Clear packing tape (plastic) may be used in a limited way to join pieces of bubble wrap or for affixing a label. Kraft paper for padding and space/void filling : is made from 100% recycled paper and is fully recyclable. Biodegradable peanuts for padding : are made from organic starch and decomposes in water leaving no toxic waste. Simply dissolve in water or place loosely in a garbage bag since they will decompose in a landfill. Recycled green bubble wrap , that is made from up to 40% recycled content with up to 20% from post-consumer sources.
