Description

This is an antique (likely 1910s – 1920s) copy of a Josef Klotz full-size (4/4) violin. Please see the video of it being played. The violin shows signs of wear, consistent with its age. It features a beautiful flame maple back and sides. The neck and scroll are also flame maple. There is a label inside the F hole that reads “Copy of Josef Klotz Austrian Made”.

The back is in very good condition with some minor wear to the finish. The sides are in very good condition with a minor imperfection or cosmetic crack in the upper bout near the neck joint on the bass side. The top board has a stable repaired crack running up the near the center of the bottom bout (as seen in pictures). The peg box has a very minor stress crack near the hole of the G tuner (as seen in pictures). The sound post is in, the bridge is good condition, and the fractional tuners work well.
