Description
This is a Airline Res-O-Glass electric guitar from 1966. Valco made the Airline brand in the 1950s and 1960s as well as other brands such as Supro and National. The Res-O-Glass models have a hollow fiberglass body, which is joined by a cream-colored rubber strip.
Everything on this guitar is original except for the bridge. It sounds amazing. All electronics are original (see pictures).
This guitar features two single-coil pickups coupled with dual volumes and dual tones. There is also a master volume control by the input jack. The guitar also utilizes a “tone” switch that changes which pickups are being used: neck, bridge, or neck and bridge.
The body is red with a rounded maple neck. The neck has a 12″ radius, a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, and pearloid block inlays. The frets are in very good condition and the neck is straight.
The headstock has the original Kluson Deluxe tuners and the string tree.
A non-original padded gig-bag case is included with the guitar.
Condition:
- The pickguard is missing some of the black striping along its edge which is due to player wear.
- The trapeze tailpiece has minor tarnishing as well as each of the pickup covers.
- There are minor nicks in the rubber strip going around the edge of the body.
- The neck binding has various chips, dings and imperfections (see pictures).
- The bridge is not original.
- The screw plugs on the back of the body, which would be used to cover the neck bolt holes, are missing.
- A thin plastic shim is placed along the edge of the neck to improve stability. Two-bolt necks have a tendency to move slightly over time, so this shim will prevent that. It can always be removed.
