Description
This is a 1970 / 71 Dan Armstrong Ampeg clear lucite guitar. This amazing guitar features all original parts: interchangeable pickups (2 included), a clear lucite / plexiglass body, rosewood fretboard, Grover tuners, and is 24 frets. The quality in craftsmanship is outstanding. I cannot say enough about how awesome this guitar sounds. When you play this guitar, you can feel the vibe through and through. It has a solid feeling, incredible action, and feels like a Ferrari when you play it. The overall weight is just over 9lbs. Everything is all original on this guitar. The electronics / pots are all original and both 1377035 and 1377036 date to 1970. “137” is the manufacturer (CTS), “70” refers to the year, and “35” refers to the week of the year. The serial number is A2186D. The A stands for Armstrong and D stands for Dan. The serial number research isn’t an exact science. Based on various registries and looking at other guitars from this period. It is safe to say this guitar is either 1970 or 1971. Since the pots are dated to the second half of the year (1970), it is possible the guitar is from that year as well. It is very good to excellent condition. The one thing that prevents me from saying it is in excellent to mint condition is there was a small repair to the area surrounding the input jack. The wood had cracked near it, which made the input jack wobble. That has now been repaired, which was minor. Overall the crack was less than an inch and only was visible underneath the pickguard (not visible on top). A semi-soft to hard-shell case is included. It is very strong road case. Other than that, here is the condition: Condition Report:
- Repair to underside of the pickguard by the input jack (minor).
- 2 screws 8″missing from the Grover tuners.
- Minor body scuffs and scratches.
- A ding in the back of the neck (see pictures).
