Description
This is a vintage 1974 Gibson The Ripper L9-S 4-string electric bass guitar with its original hardshell Gibson case.
The bass is in good to very good condition and sounds great. It is such a cool looking vintage 70s bass. The style is emblematic of the 1970s with the blonde body accented by a dark pick guard. Despite its large size, it is easy to play and relatively light feeling overall.
There are some repairs done to the pick guard, where it had cracked and was mended. All of the hardware is original and so is the finish. The metal dial around the pickup selector is worn. The case is not as clean as the bass, but it is in good condition. There is a very subtle old, somewhat dusty, smell in the case. There is minor buckle rash on the back, a few minor dings on the front, sides, and back of the body, and a minor amount of lacquer wear on the neck.
The pickup selector has the following setting:
1 in phase — series
2 bridge only — single
3 in phase — parallel
4 out of phase — series
The pickups are Super Humbucker Gibson pickups. The pots and wiring are all original and date to 1974.
It has a solid maple body and neck.
