Description
Vintage 1973 Electra Model 2221 Slim Hollow Body Electric Guitar – Made in Japan – Excellent
This is a super clean example of a 1973 Electra Model 2221 slim hollow-body guitar. It is in excellent to near mint condition with only a minor ding on the back of the neck and some finish loss on the treble / top-side of the lower bout (pictures).
The guitar features original hardware including the single-coil pickups masked in their humbucker covers, the tremolo system with wood-mounted decoration, tuners, pickguard, bridge, volume / tone knobs. The bridge saddle was replaced. The tremolo bar is responsive and sensitive, and can be adjusted to be more stiff if desired.
This guitar from the famous Matsumoku Japanese factory is dated to approximately 1973 based on the neck plate. The plate has “STEEL ADJUSTABLE NECK” and a 7-digit serial number, which were used in the 1972 – 1974 time period.
Anyone who plays this guitar will thoroughly enjoy it for two reasons. 1.) it sounds awesome with its single-coil pickups and hollow body. 2.) it feels amazing because it is very lightweight and has a comfortable body and neck profile.
The string action is comfortable and low. There is plenty of life left in the frets, which sit on a rosewood fingerboard adorned with pearloid block inlays.
