Antique Italian Bowlback Mandolin Labeled Gulli Bossini Torino 1904 Playable – Butterfly Motif

Up for sale is an antique Italian bowl-back mandolin labeled “Gulli Bossini, Torino 1904.” It features an inlaid butterfly in the spruce top and rosewood veneered headstock. The mandolin has all of its original hardware, including the bridge. The bowl back is made up of 20 individual staves.

The mandolin has been restored to playing condition and setup with new strings.

There are some cosmetic items that are worth mentioning. The top binding is missing some pieces of rosewood and abalone along the edges (see pictures). Also, there is some lacquer “fogging” on the back in some spots and as well as minor drying between to of the staves.
