Description
Antique Czechoslovakian Bowlback Mandolin circa 1940s+ – Labeled Lignatone – Made in Czechoslovakia
This is a vintage / antique Lignatone bowlback mandolin in very good condition. The mandolin has a paper label inside that shows the brand name and “Made in Czechoslovakia”. It stylistically borrows from earlier Italian bowl back mandolins. This mandolin has a spruce top, floral painted area resembling a pickguard, a decorative multi-part binding on top, 13 staves make up the bowl and the rosewood fingerboard is finished with three abalone / pearled dot inlays.
The instrument is newly setup with fresh strings and it plays well and has a great sound. Overall, the finish is in excellent condition. There are minor surface scratches and marks (see pictures) – all cosmetic in nature. The mandolin is structurally very stable and strong. There is minor oxidation / tarnish on the original tuners and tailpiece.
The body length is approximately 24″.
Mandolin only – no case.
Please review all photos carefully for condition and ask any questions before purchase.
