Description
Up for sale is this incredible 1920s Harmony-made Supertone Tenor guitar (size 5).
It is a beautiful little instrument with wonderful details and finishes. It features solid top, sides and back all made from mahogany. The neck is mahogany as well. The most obvious decorative parts of this guitar are done in a pearl-style (pearloid) material.
The neck fingerboard is finished in pearloid and has three minimal dot inlays. The neck is straight and the frets are original. The headstock top is veneered in the same pearloid material, which is also engraved in a floral / leaf design. The tuners are all original and work well.
The pickguard is made from the same pearloid material, and is also engraved in a floral / leaf design. The body has a beautiful multi-part binding comprised of wood inlay and white bakelite. The same combination of wood inlay and white binding surrounds the sound hole as well. The back of the body is engraved in the same floral / leaf design and is quite beautiful.
There are several cracks on the top board of the body, which I have repaired and stabilized. The bridge was missing from the guitar when I acquired it, so I made the bridge and added it. The bridge made from a vintage piece of dark rosewood, and has a bone saddle.
