Emerson Model 523 7 Tube Radio (suitcase / tabletop model) 1946 – 1947
Up for sale is this 1946 / 1947 Emerson Model 523 7-tube radio.
As seen in the video, the unit powers on and stations can be tuned in. I am in a rural area, so there are few AM stations to pick up. The radio takes a little time to warm up enough to actually receive signals and be audible. The tuner band also cuts out between “55” and “80” on the dial (as seen in the video).
The case is a bit different from other 523 models that I was able to find. It has a canvas-like covering, reminiscent of suitcases, televisions, and guitar amps from the same period. The handle on top is retractable.
The radio has a new power plug.
