MINT Vintage Guild M-65 3/4 SB Freshman Electric Guitar w/ 1978 Serial Number – Very Rare
Up for sale is this mint-condition, vintage, Guild Freshman M-65 SB archtop (hollow body) electric guitar in 3/4 size. Not only is this an incredibly clean guitar, but it was actually made 5 years after Guild “officially” stopped producing the M-65. This guitar is in such amazing condition, that it looks like it was made this decade and barely used.
In 1978, workers in the Westerly RI factory found M-65 bodies and short-scale necks, and assembled a batch of completed guitars, instead of letting the parts go to waste. This is known as the “Westerly floor sweep”. The 1978 serial number corresponds to the time Guild actually shipped this guitar out.
The guitar is a hollow-archtop finished in a tobacco-brown sunburst (SB) with f-holes. The body is mahogany and is bound on top with ivory-colored binding. The fingerboard is rosewood and has abalone dot inlays. It has its original single-coil anti-hum pickup, and wiring harness. All of the hardware is original. The neck is straight and fret-wear is extremely minimal. It is in excellent / mint condition overall. The original case is included.
The label inside the guitar f-hole has the serial number 170775 which matches the serial number stamped into the back of the headstock. There are a few very light scratches on the bottom edge, on the bass-side of the body as seen in the picture.
