Description
Up for sale is this wonderful vintage 1978 Alvarez dreadnought acoustic guitar. It is the 5022 model (SLM) made in Japan.
I set this guitar up with Martin 12 gauge strings and it sounds amazing. It has incredible action and the neck shape is super comfortable. I understand why Alvarez guitars are desirable and sought after.
Everything is original on this guitar except for the D-string tuner and one of the bridge pins, which were replaced.
The neck is completely straight and has a truss rod as well. It has an adjustable bridge.
The body features a spruce top and mahogany back and sides. It has X-bracing inside. The neck has a beautiful rosewood fingerboard and all original frets.
The body has no cracks or repairs. There are some cosmetic blemishes on the body and neck. The top and bottom boards have a few dings and some surface checking in the finish (which is cracking in the lacquer but not the wood). The sides are in very good condition. The back has a ding to the lower bout which can be seen in the pictures (minor). The top has a ding to the left of the sound hole in the upper bout. There are also some marks and blemishes on the neck and along the edges of the headstock.
The original label is inside the guitar.
