American 1965 Kapa Wildcat Electric Guitar w/ Mini Humbuckers + Original Case

American 1965 Kapa Wildcat Electric Guitar w/ Mini Humbuckers + Original Case

Offered here is this American made 1965 Kapa Wildcat electric guitar with original case. This is one of the coolest guitars I’ve owned. It has the ultimate 1960s vibe and sounds incredible. The guitar is all original and in excellent condition.

The guitar features a beautiful tobacco sunburst with rosewood fingerboard. The body is solid wood, possibly alder or ash.

The 4-bolt neck is solid maple. The maple is highly figured and quite beautiful as seen on the back of the neck. The serial number is stamped on the neck plate. The string action is fantastic and the neck is super straight. The original Kapa decal is on the headstock as well as the original Kluson Deluxe tuners.

There three mini-humbucker pickups, with original wiring and controls. The neck and middle pickups are very strong. The bridge pickup has about 75% of the output of the other two. One of the two coils of the bridge humbucker pickup has been re-wound. That is the only repair on the guitar. The three-way switch has the following settings: 1) Neck / Mid; 2) Neck / Mid / Bridge; 3) Bridge.

The bridge has sliding intonation control and a mute that can be toggled on or off. The tailpiece has a vibrato / tremolo bar and works perfectly.

There is a minor set of small dings to the left of the bridge pickup and may be noticeable in the pictures. There are also a few scratches, chips, and dings along the back and sides. The guitar shows some age mostly on the bottom edge where the paint is cracking a little. This is all visible in the pictures. The paint is not flaking off by any means. Please look at the pictures for details.

The case is all original and has some wear as seen in the pictures. It comes with a vintage 1960s water-slide surf decal. The case also has a slight / faint musty smell, which I’m sure can be cleaned out more. The guitar does not have that smell.

The guitar is dated to approximately 1965 based on the years Kapa produced this guitar and the potentiometers dating to 1964.
